This museum was created by the late Yukio Fujita to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Fujita Hospital (currently Fujita Memorial Hospital, a medical foundation).A total of 553 pieces of various traditional arts and crafts were donated along with museum construction land, construction funds, and other basic assets.
In order to comply with this purpose, on January 9, 1981, the establishment of the Fukui Fujita Art Museum Foundation was approved in accordance with the provisions of Article 34 of the Civil Code. On the same day, the museum received permission to establish a registered museum as a facility equivalent to a museum pursuant to Article 29 of the Museum Law.
The aim is to improve the culture of the local community through the permanent preservation of donated ink paintings and various arts and crafts, public exhibitions, and other business activities.
In addition, in order to achieve and continue this purpose, we applied for public interest certification in FY2012, and as it was certified by the Governor of Fukui Prefecture on March 19, 2013, on April 1, 2013, we applied for public interest certification. It is registered as 【Fukui Fujita Art Museum】.
